Counselling for people navigating identity shifts after major life changes

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we expected.

Migration, illness, injury, career disruption, relationship breakdown, or other unexpected events can leave you feeling disconnected from the person you thought you were going to be.

You may look like you’re coping from the outside, while internally feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, or unsure about where you fit in your own life.

Reframe Counselling offers a space where you can slow down, make sense of what you’ve been carrying, and reconnect with who you are becoming.

My work focuses on helping you rebuild identity, confidence, and belonging after life has changed.

Why Reframe Counselling

Many people experiencing major life changes receive practical advice about what to do next, but far fewer spaces exist to explore how these experiences have affected who you feel you are.

Identity shifts can be confusing and lonely. You might question your abilities, your place in the world, or whether the life you imagined is still possible.

In counselling, we create space to explore these experiences with care and curiosity. Together we untangle what belongs to you and what belongs to systems, circumstances, or expectations surrounding you.

This often brings relief, clarity, and a renewed sense of direction.

Areas I Support Clients With:

Identity and Life Transitions

When life changes suddenly, your sense of self can feel unsettled.

Counselling can help you process these transitions and rebuild a grounded sense of identity.

This may include:

• migration and cultural adjustment

• illness, injury, or changes in physical ability

• career disruption or loss of professional identity

• relationship breakdown or major life transitions

• feeling disconnected from the person you used to be

Emotional Wellbeing

Major life changes can create emotional strain that is often invisible to others.

Counselling provides space to understand and work through experiences such as:

• anxiety and overwhelm

• self-doubt and loss of confidence

• loneliness or isolation

• grief for the life you expected

• feeling stuck or uncertain about the future

Rebuilding Identity and Confidence

When circumstances change, many people begin to question their capabilities or worth.

Together we explore the strengths, values, and experiences that continue to shape who you are, even when life looks different than before.

This work helps you reconnect with a sense of possibility and agency in your life.

My Approach

My work is informed by Narrative Therapy, an approach that recognises that people are not the problem. The problem is the problem.

Life experiences, systems, and cultural expectations can shape the stories we hold about ourselves. Over time these stories can become limiting, especially after events that disrupt identity or belonging.

In our work together, we explore these stories with curiosity and care. By examining how they formed and what has influenced them, space opens for new stories to emerge—stories grounded in your strengths, values, and hopes for the future.

The aim is not to fix you, but to support you in reconnecting with the parts of yourself that remain capable, resilient, and meaningful.

What Clients Often Bring to Counselling

People come to work with me when they are navigating experiences such as:

• feeling lost or uncertain about their direction in life

• identity challenges after major life changes

• imposter syndrome or lack of confidence

• perfectionism and pressure to perform

• navigating multiple cultural or personal identities

• processing experiences of racism or exclusion

• relationship breakdowns or life transitions

• anxiety or emotional exhaustion

• feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward

How Sessions Work

Counselling is offered as one-to-one sessions, tailored to your individual experience and goals.

Sessions provide a reflective, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgement or pressure.

You are welcome to attend sessions in the way that feels most comfortable for you.

• Online sessions from the comfort of your home

• Outdoor walking sessions in Sydney Olympic Park

Whichever way you choose, you are welcome to show up exactly as you are.

A Soft Place to Land

Many people arrive feeling like they need to have everything figured out before asking for support.

You don’t.

Counselling offers a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself while navigating life’s complexities.

Sometimes what people need most is simply a place where their story can be heard without judgement.
